Answer: Custom Actions like the
"Launch" action in Attach to Hand did not work properly in Outlook
2002. Microsoft has fixed this bug in Outlook 2002 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
You can download Outlook 2002 Service Pack 2 from http://office.microsoft.com/productupdates/
.
Answer: The registration number is generated
after the first time you process an incoming message with Attach to
Hand. The 30 day trial period for the unregistered version of Attach to
Hand does not begin until after you process your first message.
Answer: This problem usually occurs with
Microsoft Word attachments that are being processed by Quickword or
Word-To-Go. Versions 7.155 and higher of QuickOffice add a Windows
registry setting that you can alter to increase the number of seconds before a
timeout occurs. The timeouts are what cause the message to appear.
TLA Software is not aware of a work-around for Documents-To-Go. Note:
When the message appears, you should keep clicking the re-try button about
every 2 seconds until the message disappears.
Answer: By default each
of the above versions of Outlook either does not install or removes the
Cdo.dll file needed to run Attach to Hand. To get Attach to Hand
working, run Outlook setup and make sure that you install the Collaboration
Data Objects (CDO) component (Outlook 2000) or Corporate & Workgroup
Component (Outlook 98). Then uninstall and reinstall Attach to Hand.
Answer: The Outlook CDO email security update
replaces the Cdo.dll file that Attach to Hand installs. If you have
already sent in your registration number listed on the "registration
screen" you can ignore this problem. You can also send in your
registration number by composing an email message yourself and copying the
number. To re-enable the "Send" button to
"auto-email" your registration number to TLA Software, delete
Cdo.dll from your Windows System directory (e.g. \WinNT\System\). Then
uninstall and reinstall Attach to Hand.
WARNING: Deleting Cdo.dll will effectively
remove the CDO security update!
Answer: (1) If you are using Outlook 2002,
this is a bug in Outlook. Microsoft is aware of the problem and has
fixed it in Outlook 2002 Service Pack 2 (SP2.) You can download Outlook
2002 SP2 from http://office.microsoft.com/productupdates/
Answer: Both Rules Wizard and Inbox Assistant
rules can be configured to process only messages with attachments. See
the Rules Wizard setup or Inbox Assistant setup section of the Attach to Hand
manual.
Answer: Attach to Hand does not install on
your Palm device. Whenever you HotSync, Attach to Hand does
install the attachments it converts to your Palm device.
Converted Word and Excel attachments will seem "invisible" to you
unless you have a Palm OS program that will read them. To read converted
MS Word files, you must have Quickword, RichReader, or another Palm DOC reader
on your Palm device. You can find several DOC readers at http://www.palmgear.com
or http://www.handango.com. To
read converted MS Excel files you must have one of the databases or
spreadsheets supported by Attach to Hand. Run the included Attach to
Hand Options program listed on your Windows Start menu to see your choices.
Answer: This message can occur in at least 3
types of situations:
Your site is using Microsoft Exchange Server. A
message is sent to your Inbox on the server and is then deleted from the
server before you open Outlook to check for new mail. The
"deleted" message causes the "Unable to detect an incoming
message" message to display.
Another rule acts on the Inbox message before the Attach
to Hand rule acts.
Your connection to Microsoft Exchange Server needs to be
refreshed. (Note: If this is the problem, rebooting your PC
will resolve it and get rid of the "Unable to detect an incoming
message" error messages.)
Answer: This message can occur when Attach to
Hand is trying to process multiple incoming messages simultaneously. The
best way to work around this problem is to retrieve your email as often as
possible. For optimal performance on a local area network (LAN), leave
Outlook running at all times if possible.
Answer: If you are using Outlook as a client
to Microsoft Exchange Server, the "Send" button logs you on using
the "default profile" for Outlook. If you don't have a default
profile for Outlook or can't log on to Exchange Server with the default
profile, you will not be able to use the "Send" button to send in
your registration number. You will need to create an email message manually
and copy the registration number into the message yourself.
Answer: To uninstall Attach to Hand, run
Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Select "Attach to Hand"
from the Install/Uninstall list and click the Add/Remove button. Then
choose the Remove option from the Attach to Hand screen that appears and click
the Finish button.
Answer: Version 3.5 of Attach to Hand contained
a registration bug. Please uninstall version 3.5 then download and
install the current version of Attach to Hand.
Answer: In the Attach to Hand Options program,
set "Process MS Word, RTF, TXT email attachments" to Quickword.
Set "Process MS Excel, CSV email attachments" to Quicksheet.
You must upgrade to Quickword 5.6.3 in order to use the Quickword
setting in Attach to Hand Options. If you wish to use an earlier version
of Quickword, you should set Attach to Hand Options for "Process MS Word,
RTF, TXT email attachments" to Palm DOC format.
Answer: Solutions in Hand made a code change
that affected the loading of their pimc.xla file. The current
version of Attach to Hand should fix this problem. If you continue
to experience this problem, try copying the pimc.xla file to your XLStart
folder.
